Second MoPSA conference

On 26–27 May, the Second International Conference of the Montenegro Political Science Association (MoPSA) was held in Budva, bringing together scholars from Montenegro and abroad to exchange the latest research findings and strengthen international academic cooperation in the field of political science.

Over the course of the two-day programme, 42 research papers were presented by university professors, researchers, and doctoral students from 17 countries around the world. The papers covered a broad range of topics, including political theory, comparative politics, international relations, public policy, European integration, political communication, and electoral studies.

A special segment of the conference was dedicated to promoting domestic scholarly output. Two books by Montenegrin authors, published within the past year, were presented, further highlighting the development of political science scholarship and academic publishing in Montenegro: Abandoning Democracy for the Nation by Filip Milačić and Chinese Infrastructure Diplomacy in the Balkans by Mladen Grgić.

The conference opened with a keynote lecture by Professor Kenneth Greene, followed by a panel discussion entitled “Democracy in the Post-Liberal Democratic Order,” where participants discussed contemporary challenges facing democracy, changes in the global political environment, and the prospects for the development of democratic institutions in a time of profound political and social transformation.

The Second International Conference of MoPSA once again confirmed its role as the leading gathering of the political science community in Montenegro and the wider region, while also serving as an important platform for international dialogue, the exchange of ideas, and the establishment of new research collaborations.
