
Dr. Filip Milačić
Dr. Filip Milačić is a senior researcher at the “Democracy of the Future” office of the Friedrich Ebert Foundation (FES), a visiting professor at Central European University in Vienna, and a research fellow at the Democracy Institute of Central European University in Budapest. He studied political science and East European history at Heidelberg University (Germany) and earned his PhD from Humboldt University (Germany). His primary research focus includes democratization processes, democratic consolidation, democratic backsliding, and democratic resilience, with a special emphasis on the role of nationalism.
He has also worked for the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE), as well as at the Faculty of Political Science, University of Montenegro. He has been a visiting researcher at the Institute for Human Sciences in Vienna, the MacMillan Center at Yale University, and the Center for Advanced Studies of the University of Rijeka.
He has published articles in several journals, including Democratization, Ethnopolitics, Nations and Nationalism, Nationalities Papers, and Southeast European and Black Sea Studies. He is the author of two books published by the renowned publisher Springer:
