dr. Mehmed Đečević

Dr. Mehmed Đečević is an assistant professor at the Faculty of Political Science, University of Montenegro, where he teaches Theories of Social Work, Political Psychology, Social Work with Individuals, Social Psychology, and Community Social Work. He completed his undergraduate studies in psychology at the Faculty of Philosophy, University of Sarajevo, after which he enrolled in postgraduate studies at the Faculty of Political Science, University of Montenegro. He defended his doctoral dissertation on the sociogenetic factors of mental disorders in Montenegro in 2017 at the Faculty of Political Science. He was appointed assistant professor at the Faculty in 2020.

His primary research focus is social psychology, while in the field of political science, he is the author of notable studies examining the dynamics of group relations and the political behavior of ethnic minorities in Montenegro. His political science research particularly explores the construction of group identities, with a focus on contextual and socio-political factors shaping the self-identification of less numerous ethnic groups in Montenegro.

He completed professional training in Gestalt psychotherapy theory and methodology in 2016, earning the title of psychotherapist.
